I’m Krista, the first post-doc in the Gerri lab. Having completed my Ph.D. in Andi Pauli’s lab at the IMP in Vienna where I studied species-specific fertilization and zygotic genome activation in fish, I am excited to work with mammals. I am fascinated by the evolutionary diversity of reproduction and development within the animal kingdom, and one of my main goals is to uncover the molecular basis for this diversity using non-model species. Stay tuned for armadillo and tenrec embryology studies!
Outside of the lab, I also love all things animals – I have two cats, a rabbit, and a dog. My favorite things are sushi and coffee, and I enjoy studying foreign languages, figure skating, whale watching (when I get the chance), and a good crime series.
